Albert DeLisio Ms. McKoy English II October 15, 2012 Life’s Personal Signs As years have passed, many a great and philosophical man, such as Galileo Galilei, has studied the stars in our ever expanding space. There in the night sky lie star patterns; these patterns are known as constellations. All these constellations have different origins, but there are twelve that stand out from the eighty eight constellations. We know these twelve constellations as the zodiac. Why do these twelve individual patterns matter? They are important because they are the signs given to us at the time of our birth. Depending on the month and day someone is born they are given an individual zodiac sign that describes that persons traits and characteristics. As an example I myself am a Cancer. Cancer is the crab and is the seventh sign in the zodiac. The sun passes through this sign during the times of June 22nd to July 22nd. Knowing your sign as well as others is an important and overlooked idea. Knowing how you and the others around you act can be an invaluable resource in life by creating a better and more personal understanding of yourself and others. Knowing your sign can have a very positive effect on you and the others around you. In the real world everyone acts according to their own beliefs and ideals. Depending on their sign, these beliefs are assorted in a vast range of ideas. Your zodiac sign can be your best friend and in some cases your worst nightmare. Your zodiac sign can have many effects on your everyday life. One effect is that it can determine what kind of person you will fall in love with. When this topic is brought about in a conversation many people have different speculations on the idea of the importance of the zodiac signs. Many people are very superstitious about how their independent horoscopes embed themselves into their lives. Many people state that they have nothing to do with their lives. Many people, while on the other end of the spectrum, feel so strongly about them that they end up blogging about it. Why do people feel so strongly about their zodiacs importance? They believe it will help them find happiness. They believe it will give them strength. They believe it will help them by creating a sense of hope in times of despair and calamity. Everyone believes in something different. This can be a result of your zodiac sign. Your sign plays an important role in life even if you are not aware of it. The zodiac signs are widely over looked all around the world and some do not understand their purpose. Those of us who cannot comprehend the importance of the zodiac should try and find a little insight on their unique sign. In conclusion, my topic may not seem very important to most of us listening to this speech, but your sign is what makes you who you are. Everyone is different, no one is the same. People act depending on who they are, how their emotions work, and what others say or think. The zodiac is an amazing thing to know, I believe more people should know their sign so we can work better together in life. Annotated Bibliography My topic is on the sun signs or as they are more commonly known as the zodiac. My first article stated that your zodiac sign gives a general overview on how one acts and behaves in life. It also says that your sign lays out the foundation of ones personality. Each sign has its own unique traits and attributes that describe what can make someone tick. To get a little more in depth about how you will act then a good starting point is your sun sign or zodiac. The author of my first article is Bruce McClure. My second article states that your zodiac sign is believed to be a representation of your personality. The twelve signs of the zodiac offer a wide variety of traits for each persons individual and unique personality. Each zodiac sign associates itself with both good and bad traits. Both the good and bad traits forged as one create the signs characteristics that belong to its individual owner. The author of my second article is Unknown because it did not have it listed. My third article states that every signs individual personality traits give the general discription of the owners personality. You can also learn about yourself and discover a more in depth meaning behind how you act by knowing your sign. The Story Behind My Topic

The story behind my topic

            The story behind my topic is how the constellations and stars affect how people behave with one another in life. Many people know about the different constellations, but what about their origins? All of the constellations originated from Greek mythology. When someone is born they are given a star sign that represents them. The twelve signs we use are known as the Greek Zodiac constellations. The sun passes through these special constellations at different times during the year. There is one sign for each of the months in a year. Even though the signs describe the good traits of someone’s personality, with every good thing there is also a negative side to it. The first sign during the year is the sign of the goat Capricorn, the sun passes through this sign from December 22^nd to January 20^th. People bearing the sign of Capricorn are known to be practical and prudent, ambitious and disciplined, patient and careful, along with humorous and reserved. Capricorns are also known for being pessimistic and fatalistic, as well as miserly and grudging. The second sign in the zodiac the water carrier, Aquarius. The sun passes through this sign during January 21^st to February 19^th. People bearing this sign are known to be friendly and humanitarian, honest and loyal, original and inventive, and lastly independent and intellectual. On the other side of these good traits the bearers of Aquarius are also intractable and contrary, perverse and unpredictable, as well as unemotional and detached. The third sign in the zodiac are the fishes Pisces. The sun passes through this sign during February 20^th to March 20^th. Those people born under Pisces are known to be imaginative and sensitive, compassionate and kind, selfless and unworldly, and are also intuitive and sympathetic. Pisces can also be escapist and idealistic, secretive and vague, and weak-willed and easily led. The fourth sign in the zodiac is Aries the ram. The sun passes through this sign during March 21^st to April 20^th. Aries are said to be adventurous and energetic, pioneering and courageous, enthusiastic and confident, also dynamic and quick-witted. On the other hand Aries are also selfish and quick-tempered, impulsive and impatient, and foolhardy and daredevil. The fifth sign in the zodiac is Taurus the bull. The sun passes through this sign during April 21^st to May 21^st. Taurus are known to be patient and reliable, warmhearted and loving, persistent and determined, also placid and security loving. Taurus can also be jealous and possessive, resentful and inflexible, and self-indulgent and greedy. The sixth sign in the zodiac are the twins Gemini. The sun passes through this sign during May 22^nd to June 21^st. Gemini are said to be adaptable and versatile, communicative and witty, intellectual and eloquent, and youthful and lively. On the other side Gemini are also said to be nervous and tense, superficial and inconsistent, as well as cunning and inquisitive. The seventh sign in the zodiac is Cancer the crab. The sun passes through this sign during June 22^nd to July 22^nd.  Those who bear the sign of Cancer are known to be emotional and loving, intuitive and imaginative, shrewd and cautious, and are also protective and sympathetic. Cancer can also be changeable and moody, overemotional and touchy, as well as clinging and unable to let go. The eighth sign in the zodiac is the lion Leo. The sun passes through this sign during July 23^rd to August 22^nd. Leos are said to be generous and warmhearted, creative and enthusiastic, broad-minded and expansive, as well as faithful and loving. On the other hand Leos are also pompous and patronizing, bossy and interfering, and dogmatic and intolerant. The ninth sign in the zodiac is Virgo the virgin. The sun passes through this sign during August 23^rd to September 23^rd. Virgos are said to be modest and shy, meticulous and reliable, practical and diligent, and also intelligent and analytical. Virgos are also known to be fussy and a worrier, overcritical and harsh, as well as perfectionist and conservative. The tenth sign in the zodiac are Libra the scales. The sun passes through this sign during September 24^th to October 23^rd. Libras are said to be diplomatic and urbane, romantic and charming, easy going and social, and idealistic and peaceable. Libras can also be indecisive and changeable, gullible and easily influenced, as well as flirtatious and self-indulgent. The eleventh sign in the zodiac is Scorpio the scorpion. The sun passes through this sign during October 24^th to November 22^nd. Scorpios are known to be determined and forceful, emotional and intuitive, powerful and passionate, and also exciting and magnetic. On the other hand Scorpios can also be jealous and resentful, compulsive and obsessive, and are also secretive and obstinate. The twelfth sign in the zodiac is Sagittarius the archer. The sun passes through this sign during November 23^rd to December 21^st. Sagittarius is known to be optimistic and freedom-loving, jovial and good-humored, honest and straight-forward, and also intellectual and philosophical. They are also said to be blindly optimistic and careless, irresponsible and superficial, as well as tactless and restless. Knowing what peoples signs are can help to better get along and understand one another to avoid violence and saying the wrong things to people.
